More about the World Famous Watch Auction Houses
ONLY WATCH, a world famous charity watch auction, draws the most prestigious and skilled watchmakers in the world to create some of the most unique and exclusive timepieces to be auctioned off, the proceeds of which go towards the support of research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. It is basically a neuromuscular disease that affects around 250,000 children, teenagers and adults around the globe and is said to affect one in every 3,500, with males being more prone to the disease. The people behind Only Watch, a team of highly dedicated and extremely devoted people, try bring together some of the most renowned and illustrious watchmakers in the world, pledging their support to the cause.
In September 2009, Only Watch racked in a substantial sum of around 2.5 million Euros, which was subsequently distributed in 5 countries (France, Italy, United Kingdom, United States of America and Switzerland). The beneficiaries of this donation included around 90 clinicians and researchers under the umbrella of 15 scientific partners and Only Watch have enabled them to efficaciously explore new treatments for the disease.
The fourth edition of the Only Watch charity, being held in Monaco on 23rd Sep, 2011, will host 40 of the most exclusive and one of a kind timepieces created by highly prominent and renowned Swiss watchmakers. In a bid to garner the attention of watch connoisseurs, the Only Watch 2011 collection will be showcased in the watch collecting capitals of the world namely: Tokyo, Los Angeles, Milan, Geneva, New York, Beijing and Singapore from 30th Aug to 17th September. Monaco will be the last stage of the tour, where a two day exhibition will be held (Sep 21-22) before the start of the actual auction.
A number of different corporations are partnering up to make this majestic world tour possible and these include: The Hour Glass Singapore, The Hour Glass Tokyo, the CITIC Group (for Shanghai and Beijing), the Consulate General of Monaco etc will be co-organizing the auction with Only Watch. The auction, under the Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II, will be selling the timepieces through the renowned auction house Antiquorum by Evan Zimmermann and will attract aficionados of luxury watches to the Hotel Hermitage. Starting at 4pm (GMT +2), enthusiasts will also be able to make bids online or through the telephone.
